Interesting tidbits about Android

It is that time of the year when we folks start taking stock of what has happened in our lives with only a few days to Christmas and to 2012. While browsing through the Talk Android site, a number of interesting facts cropped up.

In one of the articles, the author mentions that during the Google’s announcement of its new Google Music Service in November, one such tidbit of knowledge dropped was the fact that, in regards to Android activations, over 200 million devices have been activated globally, and that’s up 100 million from May.  That’s a whopping 550,000 per day!

In another article, Eric Schmidt, Google-CEO in August said that Google believes there are some 200,000 Android devices being activated every day (compared to 160,000 activations a day that we reported in June). That is 1.4 million devices sold every month (and that was 4-months ago) and  it’s pretty obvious people are getting the message that Android is clearly the optimum smartphone platform. This month alone, that number has already hit 300,000 devices being activated daily!  That is truly a staggering number, and a real milestone for the Android platform. Before we know it, we’ll be seeing half a million devices activated daily.
